Ovarian cancer has been dubbed ‘The Silent Killer’. Similar to many other cancers, it doesn’t show any symptoms for a long time. When it does, the symptoms are very non-specific and can point to a number of different conditions – both serious and benign. The sad reality is that when ovarian cancer is finally diagnosed, it has often already spread, which makes your treatment options limited.
There are some early warning signs you can look out for. But you need to combine your observations with other factors, as you don’t want to be jumping to conclusions too early.
The following are examples of common ailments that could be behind a tumor.
1. Bloating
Abdominal swelling can be related to any number of health issues, but if you feel unusually bloated on a regular basis, that may be a sign of fluid buildup or growth of a mass, which ovarian cancer could cause.
2. Problems with satiety
If you find yourself feeling unusually full very quickly and on a repeated basis, or not having much of an appetite at all, that could also mean your body is developing ovarian cancer.
3. Pelvic or abdominal pain
If you're consistently feeling pain in your pelvic or abdominal areas or yoy felt an odd amount of pressure in those parts, it could also mean something unwelcome is pressing against your organs.
4. Other things to watch out for
If you're experiencing an unusual amount of pain during intercourse, suffer from fatigue, back pain or strange changes in your menstrual cycle, you may also be in danger.
5. Urinary difficulties
If you the need to go to the bathroom much more often than your body usually should, it can be an indicator of ovarian cancer.
Note: Keep in mind to see a gynecologist and ask about these symptoms specifically when voicing your concern, as early stage ovarian cancers are difficult to pinpoint without specific guidance.
